Every car club has a few people who make things happen.
We’re the ones answering messages at midnight, chasing down sponsors, setting up before sunrise, handing out awards, fixing last-minute problems, and somehow still finding time to enjoy the cars.
Steel City Street Rods started around a simple idea: bring people together, celebrate the cars we love, and create events that feel like a family reunion with horsepower.
So here’s the crew behind the madness.
The Heart of Steel City
The inspiration behind much of what Steel City Street Rods stands for.
With deep roots in Granite City and a lifetime around cars, he helps keep the club connected to the community that inspired its name. Whether he’s talking cars, helping with planning, or lending a hand wherever needed, he’s the steady voice that keeps us moving forward.
The Numbers Guy
Every club needs someone who can keep track of where the money goes, and thankfully that’s Scott.
While everyone else is talking about horsepower and paint colors, Scott is making sure registrations are organized, expenses are covered, and the event actually stays on track. If something is running smoothly behind the scenes, there’s a good chance Scott had something to do with it.
Camera in One Hand, Checklist in the Other
If you’ve seen a flyer, social media post, event photo, sponsor letter, website page, or random late-night idea come to life, chances are Sara had something to do with it.
Usually found taking photos, answering messages, designing graphics, chasing sponsors, organizing events, and wondering why she volunteered for all of this in the first place.
Spoiler alert: because she loves it.
The Utility Player
Every team has someone who can do a little bit of everything.
Setup, teardown, helping participants, moving equipment, solving random problems, Zach is usually wherever the work is happening.
If you can’t find him, he’s probably carrying something heavy.
The Fix-It Guy
Need tables moved? Need signs hung? Need help setting up? Need someone to solve a problem nobody saw coming?
Mak is usually already working on it.
He’s the calm presence in the middle of show-day chaos and the guy willing to jump in wherever help is needed.
Junior Crew Chief
Official title? Junior Crew Member.
Actual job? Whatever needs done.
Helping with registration, handing out Hot Wheels, assisting with awards, greeting participants, and making sure the next generation of car enthusiasts has a seat at the table.
Every car club needs young gearheads coming up through the ranks.
Why We Do It
Steel City Street Rods isn’t about trophies.
It isn’t about who has the most expensive build.
It isn’t even about the cars.
The cars bring us together, but the people are what keep us coming back.
We’re building something that celebrates the history of our community, supports local businesses, creates memories for families, and gives car enthusiasts a place to belong.
Whether you’re driving a show car, a project car, a daily driver, or just showing up to enjoy the atmosphere, we’re glad you’re here.
Welcome to the Steel City Street Rods family.
